Wheeling through a fantastic year and gearing up for more adventures!

What a wild ride 2025 has been. We kicked off the year with our legendary February Quiz, warming up our biking brains and shaking off the winter cobwebs in anticipation of spring’s arrival. There’s nothing like a good quiz to get everyone buzzing for the season ahead!

Loving the summer…

Summer saw our Family Fun Day, where “young guns” discovered the joys of two wheels, and our seasoned riders faced some cheeky obstacles and friendly competition. The veterans showed they’ve still got it – especially in the slalom showdown, which ended with Frazer clinching victory by a whisker. To be honest, we could have put money on him from the start!

The SXC and SES crews rolled into town, taking on our trails and leaving us with glowing feedback. Huge thanks to everyone who sweated buckets moving rocks, clearing brambles, and carving out new trails. Shoutout to the marshals who braved the weather – you lot are legends.

And then it was autumn…

When autumn arrived, it was all hands-on deck for maintenance sessions. Armed with hand tools and plenty of elbow grease, we tackled most of the trails.

Moffat Rescue Team were chuffed with our £555 charity donation; it’s not every day they get handed an envelope stuffed with such a satisfyingly odd number (was someone short a fiver?).

Winter fun…

Winter means paperwork (groan), but we were first out of the gate, submitting trail building plans under the new FLS guidelines. We also joined the DMBINs and FLS consultations, putting our heads together to help formalise trail building options for the future. Our voices are being heard, and the future looks bright!

This year’s Pie and Pints shindig was every bit as brilliant as we’d hoped! A huge thanks to everyone who turned up – the banter was top notch, and the laughter echoed well into the night. Special mention to those who rocked up with a wonderfully random array of booze and quirky goodies for the raffle!

We go again in 26…

Looking ahead to 2026, we’re already plotting more races, fresh trail builds, and a packed calendar of events. Rumour has it a kids’ club might be pedalling onto the scene too, anyone who can spare a little or loads of time please email aebikeassociation@gmail.com, your help could make a world of difference.

Spend Christmas honing your general knowledge for our Ae Quiz Night, Fri, Feb 27, 2026 at 7:00 PM | Eventbrite, book by the end of December and get a BOGOF!

For now, it’s time to recharge, enjoy the Christmas break, and dream of new adventures. We can’t wait to see you out on the trails in the new year – burning off those mince pies and making new memories.
